Munich, September 5, 2022 – The DT300Y rugged tablet series from DT Research is one of the most successful tablets for mobile use in industry, logistics or in the field that the Munich-based VAD Concept International carries in its range. New powerful 11th generation Intel Core-i processors with four or six cores now provide even more speed, while the WLANax ensures higher data rates and more stability, especially in busy networks. With the integrated chip card reader, Ethernet, Bluetooth 5.2 and many options such as cameras, barcode scanner, NFC reader, UHF RFID reader and clip-on keyboard, the tablets guarantee reliable data capture and transmission even in critical environments. This makes them a mobile alternative to fixed panel PCs for machine control (“mobile HMI”), for example. The operating system used is Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC / Windows 10 Pro / Windows 11 Pro or Ubuntu Linux.

As portable as a small laptop

The DT300Y rugged tablet series from DT Research is primarily designed for use in harsh, demanding industrial environments. It is used particularly frequently, for example, in the production of vehicles, the control of a PLC in mechanical engineering, in maintenance, for predictive maintenance applications or in the military. The tablet is either connected directly to a docking station on the machine or used as a mobile HMI. Weighing between 1.3 and 1.8 kg and with a housing thickness of around 2 cm, the three systems in the DT300Y series are at least as portable as an industrial laptop.

Designed for compute and memory-intensive applications

Intel Core-i processors of the 11th generation with four or six cores work inside, which rely on up to 32 GB RAM and an SSD with up to 2 TB capacity. Models with a low-priced Pentium Gold CPU are also offered for not so data processing-intensive applications. The internal flash-based storage can be chosen between 256 GB and 2 TB. In combination with the 11th generation GPU, this allows even very computationally and memory intensive applications like 3D graphics and forensics. Thanks to Windows or even Ubuntu, the D300Y series tablets integrate easily into existing IT infrastructures.

Versatile connectivity

Unlike standard tablets, which usually do not last long in harsh conditions, the 300Y series tablets are well adapted to demanding environments. Fully-rugged certified to IP65, MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F, they are not only largely protected against vibration and drops, they are also waterproof, dustproof and electromagnetically compatible. All major industrial interfaces are available for communication with peripherals or network, including Ethernet (GB-LAN), USB-C, USB 3.0, and external devices can be wirelessly integrated with Bluetooth 5.2. The new 802.11ax protocol, Wi-Fi 6 for short, brings faster WLAN especially in heavily frequented networks.

A full-size smart card slot that fully accommodates the smart card, as well as optional integrated tag readers, allow employees to easily and securely log in to the tablet with their common access cards such as company IDs or using inductive Mifare and Legic cards. For those who need to work online “always and everywhere”, the DT300Y series is also optionally available with LTE / 5G module and with GPS module.

Available in three sizes

The tablets are optionally available in 10.1, 11.6 or 13.3 inch form factors. The three different screen sizes enable the right resolution for any purpose, ensuring high-quality visual communication with production equipment of varying requirements.

Attachable keyboard in three sizes

A wall or vehicle mount and a pluggable full-size German keyboard with integrated docking station (2x USB, 1x Ethernet, 1x HDMI and USB-C) enable applications that go far beyond the usual features of laptops or panel PCs in the HMI sector. For each size of the three 2-in-1 tablets, a separate, fully-fledged, attachable keyboard is available, which is permanently connected to the tablet and can be folded onto the display. This turns the tablet into a full-fledged laptop in no time.

Easy to read even in direct light

With a brightness of up to 1,000 cd/m2 and a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 and 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, the touchscreens ensure good legibility with a high-contrast image quality even in direct light. An optionally available digitizer pen allows handwritten notes and signatures. The touchscreen also copes well with gloves and raindrops. There are also versions with very low brightness levels below 1 cd/m² (Night Visible mode) for military purposes.

Hot-swap battery for 24/7 operation

In terms of power supply, the DT300Y series is hard to beat: The battery (60 Wh or 90 Wh) brings it to a runtime of up to eight or fourteen hours, respectively. It can be replaced during operation due to a permanently installed buffer battery and thus allows uninterrupted work. This enables seamless monitoring, especially when used on the shop floor.

Also available are a 2D barcode scanner, a centimeter-accurate U-blox M8 GNSS module, and a front-facing 2-megapixel and a rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED light. In combination with the cameras, the GNSS module enables, for example, very accurate documentation of damaged areas in production facilities.
