The industrial mainboards, which are available in various sizes, are used in continuous operation on assembly lines, in machine control systems or in control cabinets thanks to their extended operating temperature and vibration resistance
Munich, June 25, 2024 – Value-added distributor Concept International is expanding its range for industrial use with bare mainboards from Giada. The practical alternatives to computers with a housing score points with an even slimmer design and more flexibility in terms of equipment and area of application thanks to a large number of interfaces. They are ideally suited for 24/7 use in mechanical engineering, but also in control technology. A wide temperature range from 0 to 60° Celsius and high vibration resistance ensure that the boards deliver consistent performance even in harsh environments. The industrial mainboards are now available from Concept International.
The advantage of mainboards over a fully configured and finished PC is obvious: thanks to the wide range of interfaces, the boards offer great flexibility and the free choice of an individual housing or the construction of an individual product idea with a “PC heart”.
Concept International has various industrial mainboards from Giada in its range – for different operating systems and with different form factors. All devices are operational in an extended temperature range of 0 to 60° Celsius, vibration-resistant, durable and offer long-term availability. The following two boards stand out in particular:
Maximum power: The IB5-8131 industrial mainboard
The clear winner in the performance comparison is the IB5-8131 mainboard from Giada. Thanks to the LGA1700 processor socket, CPUs of the 12th to 14th generation of the Intel Core i variant can be installed, each in the i3, i5, i7 or i9 version – the latter with 24 cores. The board utilizes this power when using complex machine control apps, for example, but also in HMI (Human Machine Interfaces) terminals, such as those used for control or maintenance tasks.
But it’s not just the performance, the interfaces of the IB5-8131 are also a highlight: with two internal serial RS232 and two RS232/422/485 interfaces, the motherboard offers sufficient options for connecting control and regulation technology devices. There are also four USB ports (two USB3.2 Gen2 and two USB2.0) and two LAN ports, as well as four additional internal USB ports (two USB3.2 Gen1 and two USB2.0). Especially in intelligent logistics, where several sensors are often connected at the same time, there are plenty of interfaces available. The board also supports two displays via a display port, HDMI connection or optional VGA interface. There is also an internal digital connection (GPI/O) – with four inputs and outputs each and a dual-channel LVDS port.
With its mini-ITX format – measuring just 170 x 170 mm – the IB5-8131 fits into a wide range of industrial applications, for example in robots or control cabinets, to save space.
Windows 10/11 and Linux are supported as operating systems.
Ideal for AI applications: The IB3-771
The second hot iron from the Giada forge is the even smaller IB3-771 measuring 160 x 108 mm. Equipped with a quad-core RK3588 processor, the fastest of its kind from Rockchip, and Android 12, it fulfills all common tasks in the world of robotics and control. The CPU also has a Neural Process Unit (NPU) as standard. This makes the board ideally equipped for AI applications, such as those used in predictive maintenance: The intelligent machine independently recognizes when maintenance is due and even orders new parts automatically if necessary. AI is also required for self-propelled robots, for example to detect obstacles using “machine vision” or to independently and continuously optimize travel paths.
The IB3-771 also has a wide range of interfaces: 2 x RS232, 2 x RS485, 4 x USB3.2 Gen1 (external), 6 x USB2.0 (internal), 2 x LAN and 2 x HDMI. There is also an onboard eDP and LVDS port for two additional displays. The board has a fan and is therefore ideally suited for continuous 24/7 use.
Price and availability of the industrial mainboards
The Giada mainboards are now available from Concept International. The IB5-8131 is available for a list price of 200 euros and the IB3-771 from 300 euros. There are attractive conditions for resellers or system integrators. On request, Concept International can support the roll-out of projects with the Total Preparation Service: the devices are delivered configured and permanently tested for specific projects, even in large quantities. They can be used plug-and-play on site. Concept has a stock in Germany and assembles at its headquarters in Munich, which enables fast response times if required. And an optional five-year warranty (two years as standard) rounds off the overall package.
