Available in eight different sizes, the FuturePPC KOF series impresses with a closed housing with open-frame mounting rails, Android 11 and individual configuration options
Munich, June 19, 2024 – Value-added distributor Concept International has now also launched an Android version of panel PCs from its own FuturePPC brand: the KOF series not only impresses with an open-frame insert and therefore flexible mounting options, it can also be freely mounted thanks to its sleek metal housing, is available in eight different sizes and is competitively priced. It complements the existing I and IK series from FuturePPC for Windows and Linux. The PCs are primarily used in booking or information terminals, in ticket and vending machines, but also in Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) in industry and logistics. The KOF series from FuturePPC is now available from Concept International.
The KOF series is available in eight different sizes, from 11.6 inches to 32 inches. What they all have in common is the quad-core RK3568 CPU from Rockchip with a clock speed of 2 GHz. This gives the series enough power to cut a fine figure 24/7 under Android 11. The PCs score particularly well in embedded operating systems, where the computer has to perform a limited number of functions, precisely tailored to the specific application, such as in information terminals in shopping centers, at airports or train stations or in the aforementioned HMIs.
On the memory side, the KOF series has 16 to 64 GB of storage space and 2 to 4 GB of RAM. The display brightness of up to 400 cd/m² is more than sufficient, especially for indoor use. Up to 1000 cd/m2 is also possible as an option. The displays have a capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch. The surface is therefore also more durable and better protected against scratches or damage, as a harder cover glass is used as the top layer than with resistive touchscreens.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on board as standard, 4G LTE is available as an option. The three smaller sizes also offer the option of supplying power via the Ethernet cable (Power over Ethernet, PoE). This saves a separate power supply unit.
Robust open-frame housing
The flexibility also applies to the hardware: the devices come with an optional open-frame holder made of sturdy metal, which can be mounted on request. Alternatively, the PCs can also be fitted with a VESA 100 mount. This enables wall mounting or integration into existing systems.
All PCs in the KOF series can cope well with an operating temperature of 0 to 40° Celsius and a humidity of 10 to 75 percent. The computers therefore perform reliably, especially indoors, but also in protected outdoor locations.
Android on the advance
“Although Windows systems still dominate the market, Android is increasingly becoming an issue in industry,” says Mike Finckh, founder and Managing Director of Concept International. “The main advantage of Android panel PCs is clearly the cost savings. The significantly cheaper hardware and the savings in license costs mean that the price is up to a third of an equivalent Windows device.”
Another advantage of Android over other operating systems is its increased security. As there are no Google mobile services such as app stores etc. available, there are ultimately fewer points of attack to gain access to the system, which is preferred in an industrial or corporate context. The KOF series is available with Android 11 as standard.
Price and availability of the FuturePPC KOF series
The KOF series panel PCs from FuturePPC are now available from Concept International at a list price starting at 470 euros. Attractive conditions are available for resellers and system integrators. Concept also supports the roll-out of projects with the Total Preparation Service on request. The PCs are delivered with project-specific configuration and endurance testing – and can therefore be used practically plug-and-play on site. As the Munich-based distributor has a stock in Germany, fast response times are possible. An optional five-year warranty rounds off Concept International’s service.
